What is Regenerative Gardening?
There are many gardens created to look good, but they can come at a price to the environment. However, when nature helps us create gardens that look good and also do good, the garden will pay nature back tenfold. Some of us already practice sustainable gardening. A sustainable garden has a low carbon footprint which it places lightly on the earth. But a regenerative garden goes further, actively improving the plot of land it sits on.
Regenerative gardens have…
- Lots of plants! A variety of plant types, including those that are attractive to insects
- Plants with long flowering seasons
- Plants you can connect with, like edible flowers and fruit trees
- The minimum of hard landscaping
- Natural features like ponds, meadows, hedges and log piles
- Natural habitats and food sources for wildlife
